They Call Me Mellow Yellow or Another Damn Recipe for Golden Milk
Something you may or may not know about me is that I’m an artist. Or at least that’s what I went to school for 6 years to be. Since I finished grad school in 2008 (which feels like eons ago), I’ve had an on and off again relationship with my art practice. And to be honest, it’s been more off again than on for the last 8 years. So in an effort to rekindle the flame, I present to you Pickled Rose’s Fine Art Friday.
Every Friday I will be featuring a piece of artwork, made by yours truly, that is inspired by a recipe I’ve created. This week’s artwork was inspired by the ever trendy, Golden Milk. I’m not here to tell you about the anti inflammatory properties of turmeric, or that it’s going to cure all your ailments. I’m here to tell you that it’s delicious.
My spin on this popular drink comes in smoothie form, with a boost of added protein from raw cashews and rolled oats. Perfect for a quick breakfast or pick me up snack in the afternoon. Enjoy the golden hues and bliss the F out.
Golden Milk Smoothie

1 tsp ginger, grated
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp turmeric
2 medjool dates, pitted and chopped
1 C canned coconut milk
1 C ice
Combine cashews, oats, and almond milk in a blender. Let sit for at least 15 minutes or up to overnight. Next, add all remaining ingredients to the blender, except for the ice, and blend on high until smooth. Add ice and blend until frothy and creamy.
