Spiked Chai Tea
It’s Fine Art Friday and I’m ready to party- at home, in my sweatpants, catching up on Riverdale. But no couch party would be complete without a nice hot mug of something spiked. This week’s art inspired recipe is a personal favorite of mine. Spicy, creamy, slightly sweet, and let’s not forget boozy- spiked chai tea. This is exactly what you need to warm your bones and get a good buzz on. Introvert Friday night parties commence!
Spiked Chai Tea
Ingredients:
2 1/2 C water
2 cinnamon sticks
8 cardamom pods, crushed slightly
1/2 Tbsp allspice berries
1/4 tsp coriander seed
1 star anise pod
6 black peppercorns
1” piece of ginger, sliced and smashed
kosher salt
1 drop rosewater
1 1/2 Tbsp loose leaf rooibos tea
1 C whole milk
3 oz bourbon
1 1/2 Tbsp honey
In a small sauce pan, bring water to a boil. Once boiling, turn off heat, and add cinnamon, cardamom, allspice, coriander, star anise, peppercorns, and ginger. Cover and steep for 5 minutes. Once spices have been steeped, add rosewater, pinch of salt, tea, and whole milk to the pot. Cover and steep for 2 minutes. Strain liquid through a fine mesh strainer lined with a double layer of cheesecloth, into a large bowl. Add bourbon and honey, and ladle into your coziest mug.
